How cool is it to be famous??

So I've interviewed Tony Whipps the eventer for part of the new horsey section in the magazine and we needed a really good photo of him but he doesn't really know how to work a computer. So, he sent down 'one of the boys' with a box of press photo's for me to choose from. The 'boy' (a guy of about 50 called Bob) sat and waited while we chose the shot we wanted then took the box away again. If I was famous I'd have a million Bob's to do everything for me. Tres chic!!

The M25 hates me

I swear, if I set off two minutes late there will be a jam, but if I set off on time there will be no traffic and I end up sat there for half an hour reading my book before I tootle into the office. Very annoying.

I was meant to be interviewing a woman from the forestry commission this morning so I got up super early and got to work with plenty of time before the interview so that i could read through all the questions I had prepared. Rang her at the appointed time and... Nothing. Her phone was on. I felt like I could scream. Anyway, managed to get through to her at 10.30 and the interview went fine in the end but I was having a major spaz, she's a park ranger aren't they meant to be on call like 24/7?!?!

Friday at last

Hurray it's friday! Lots of work to do though and lots of people to interview today so I'd best get going!

The ice has cracked

Ok so today was the first proper day where I like talked people properly. It wasnt exactly poetry in motion but words were flowing, It'll probably get better over the next few weeks but the ice seems to be thawing slowly.

One is the lonliest number

Day two in the office, right I didn't know this before but this magazine ir run completely off of a freelance staff. Thus I and the two editors will be the only three people in here everyday along with the sales team. now that isnt a problem apart from the fact that I'm still a bit new to be going and talking to people willy nilly. So I'm sat here all nice and quite doing my work but it really is a bit lonley.

Rude journalists

Ok so last night I didnt put this up because I was still quite upset but I got a rather rude email from a magazine that I'm meant to be going to in a few weeks saying that they couldn't take me. Now that placement was the one that I was looking forward to the most. It would have looked fantastic on my CV.

Now the thing is that she didnt tell me nicely or anything she just said that I wouldnt be able to come on those dates which has now buggered up my calendar because I had it all set nicely so that I would have had three placememts over a consecutive six weeks and now I have a two week gap in the middle. Grr!!! Horrible lady.

Day numero uno

Ok so today was my first day at the actual Surrey Life offices, I couldn't sleep at all last night because I was a mess. Finally got up at 6.30 and spent ages in the shower getting nice and clean for the day ahead. I'm meant to work 10-4 every day and the place is only 33 miles down the road but it somehow managed to take me nearly an hour and a half to get there, good job I set off just before 8.30.

Plus the parking is hilarious. I only have a little fiesta and I basically have to make it drive cross country up this lane to find a space, I'll take a picture and put it up when I get a second because it really is mental. There's potholes that are over a metre wide!!

anyway had best go have to be up again in the morning!

Having a nervy B

Oh my god. I start work experience at Surrey Life magazine tomorrow and I am quite literally having a spaz attack. I have no idea what to wear and the boy isn't helping. In fact he's playing on the flipping Playstation while I'm sat here slowly dying.

Mum isn't much help either, you can't really describe what's in your wardrobe over the phone. I think I might have to do a late night phone call to little J to come and help me because I'm really not getting very far here.

Am going to get up at about 6.30 so that I have plenty of time to get ready and be looking my best. If I set off at about 8.30am I have an hour and a half to get there, even though they're only 33 miles down the road I have to negotiate the M25 and that can be a nightmare on a morning.

Oh well wish me luck!

Rude people

Ok I know people who work at big magazines are busy but please don't be rude on the phone to me, a certain wedding magazine seemed less than thrilled that I had bothered to contact them asking if I could speak to the woman I've being emailing for a couple of weeks *sob*.

I literally only wanted to talk to her for a couple of minutes but she was too busy to even listen to what I was saying before she said she'd ring me back later.

She still hasn't and it's gone 5pm on a Friday so I assume that she's not ringing today

Amazing!!!

The editor of Surrey Life magazine has called me and given me three weeks of work!!! OMG and it's like in a week and a bit. Oh. My. God. I'd best go shopping for some more clothes I have NOTHING to wear!!

Work experience

I'm not joking when I say that getting work experience as a student is literally a lottery. I've being told by several magazines that they aren't taking on students because of the recession even though we're unpaid. A few have got back to me though and I'm just in the middle of arranging some dates with a couple of places. Watch this space!

Hand in day

Ok so my dissertation hand in was today, made three copies so that my mum could have one because I'm sure she thinks I don't know 10,000 words never mind about putting them into logical sentences. Hurray!! Feel really proud. We're all meant to be going out tonight but I didn't go to bed until 4.30am this morning so I think I'll just have a nice early night. Zzzzzzzzzzz

Dissertation

Right so our dissertation was originally due on the 4th February but it's just been extended to the 8th because of the rubbish weather we've being having no one could get into university to go to the library. Actual miracle!

AWOL

Right, I am going to be AWOL for a few weeks because I have to finish my dissertation for the beginning of February. I am literally not going to get to sleep for three weeks

Back again

Ok so we've being back for a few days but I've being super busy getting all the clothes washed and the suitcases unpacked. All done now so it's back to reality. Boo!!!

Have a uni introduction day this week about our work experience that we have to do. I am a bit nervous about work experience. Have a million CV's to send out so I'll start that next week.

Off on holiday

Right we're off on holiday tomorrow morning and I am having a bit of trouble packing.

The boy can't find his swimming trunks and I can't find an adaptor plug for the camera.

Oh well We'll have a fab time, back in a week!!
